The Nemours Children’s Health Advanced Delivery Unit compressed a multi-year healthcare project into eighteen months. The $35 million project converted patient rooms in the middle of an active hospital into one of only a few facilities in the country designed specifically for high-risk pregnancies and births. Cippco performed the selective demolition of existing patient rooms and care facilities including heavy-duty walls, framing and embedded mechanical systems, clearing the footprint for the fit-out trades to follow.

Given the nature of demolition Cippco faced significant challenges while working in an active hospital. All debris was hand cut into manageable sections and routed outside of the hospital for removal. Discovery of a unexpected concrete floor topping required the material to be removed by hand chipping tools, reducing noise for recovering patients. Careful coordination by splitting the demolition area into quadrants clearing the way for technical trades to begin work while Cippco completed the additional scope and maintained tight deadlines.
